Snowed in

Last week, we showed how others snowed in are getting around on their motorcycles. No one likes to put away their bike for the winter and some don't! Well, that got us thinking about vehicles. Even as an avid biker, we all probably at least own a cage. I can remember some pretty crazy snowstorms in my time that left us stuck for days. That's because we didn't have a cool modified contraption that could get us through anything. And some of these, I mean anything! Check them out!

Wish I could have seen this one in action. That must be one strong fan to push that heavy old vehicle.

Tracks will get you just about anywhere, but they still have their limitations.

The snow can be a beautiful thing and there are places that want to show you that beauty. How can they achieve this? Throw some tracks on a bus, of course!

For the not so snowy place, just bug big tires should do.

Now, these guys traveling around on a glacier have crevices to contend with. Why not independent, articulating tracks that'll get you right over those giant cracks. Looks terrifying!

What if you just need to go grab the mail? Can't walk through the snow, just get you one of these.

Well, if the big tires can't get you there, nor the tracks, I guess we're really stuck. Not for this crazy contraption. This thing literally screws its way through the snow. Who knew.

Well, now we know where we've been. Let's see where we're at.

It seems the same technology is still used today, but in a much easier, pop on pop off sort of way.

How about just for fun? If I had one of these as a kid, I would have wished for more snow! This looks like it would be a blast.

Okay, that's where we've been and where we are. How about the future of snow travel? What is in store for us?

This thing looks spectacular. Want to chew through some snow with me?

Still waiting for the one I really want. Not sure this is technically a "snow machine", but hey. Should get around pretty much anywhere.

We hope you've had as much fun learning about man, machine and snow. As much sun as a lot of these look, I would still rather be riding on a nice sunny day, so please bring back my summer weather!
